The Fraport Skyliners are streaking towards the playoffs as they have won nine of their last 11 games in the German BBL and moved into the postseason spots with a 92-47 walloping of Phoenix Hagen.
The victory was punctuated by a fantastic exchange at the defensive and offensive ends. Frankfurt guard Quantez Robertson rushed back for a monster block on Hagen’s Davin White and then back on offense dished the ball to a streaking Tim Ohlbrecht for a thunderous two-handed dunk.
Muli Katzurin’s team is now eighth in the BBL standings with a 16-15 record with three games left to play. Seventh-placed New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig are 16-14, but the Skyliners own the tiebreaker advantage with Braunschweig while Telekom Baskets Bonn are ninth with a 15-15 record.
Skyliners still have to play at TBB Trier, host Walter Tigers Tübingen and travel to Bonn for the final game of the season on April 28. Bonn won the first game in Frankfurt 79-64 so Frankfurt hope they don’t have to beat Bonn by 15 points to reach the playoffs.
If the Skyliners keep getting plays like those from Robertson and Ohlbrecht, however, Katzurin should easily have his team in the playoffs…
