..or just two different ways of thinking? I don’t know but it was kind of funny to read what Michael Grange from Canada’s National Newspaper and Euroleague.net had to say about the same game.
As Eurolague.net tells us about the game of Zalgiris Kaunas in Toronto was “Zalgiris losing a thriller“. Mike described the game like this:
I didn’t see one happy clap all night. Three games against Euro clubs is two too many. It’s not an excuse, it’s just a fact. Playing poorly against teams you know you should crush (these guys weren’t even close to the quality of Real Madrid, who could well win the Euroleague) just kind of brings you down.
I somehow do understand both sides. Knowing that Mike really knows a lot about Basketball and respecting his knowledge I can see that Toronto played down to Zalgiris’ level. Zalgiris just isn’t a top Euroleague team, but according to some season previews on the Raptors, they aren’t a NBA top team either, well even not a East-top-team.
On the other hand Euroleague.net is trying to promote basketball in Europe. Of course it helps much more to write “thriller” than “boring game” if you want people in Europe to follow Basketball and especially show that Euroleague basketball isn’t far away from NBA basketball – levelwise.
I think that Mike was just annoyed by all these un-shaved, long-haired, cigarette-smoking European players running around.. (wink) and Euroleague.net just proud not to get killed by 20.
