This weekend was once again the eternal duel between the two Lithuanian powerhouses: Lietuvos Rytas and Zalgiris Kaunas. The Baltic League summit in a sold out Siemens Arena was highly dramatic and it was a big three pointer by Hollis Price that only sealed the deal in last minute.
Of course, the game alone would be worth to talk about as well as the rivalry between both teams. But in the end, a picture published by the Lithuanian photographer website Telefoto may come up as the biggest discussion point in the local forums and press.
The picture that was taken after the decisive score of Rytas shows their head coach Aleksandar Trifunovic showing both middle fingers in the direction of the Zalgiris bench. This alone is pretty scandalous in my opinion, and even the biggest rivalry can not be an excuse of such a behavior. If you check the picture well, you can see how terrified Jared Jordan looks at his coach’s behavior while Matt Nielsen and Marijonas Petravicius seem to enjoy this moment as much as their coach is doing.
Even if such a misbehavior can happen to anyone, even some German politician had his "Stinkefinger" affair, I don’t think that Trifunovic should get out of this without some penalty by the Baltic League or at least a team-intern sanction.
