Not much Euroleague in this post at all – sorry! Not even anything negative to say about any European player on the Lakers. Well – in the first half of game 4 you had to like what Mr. Radmanovic did: hitting threes. It almost looked like the Lakers would shoot the Celtics out of the Staples Center. In the end, it was the Celtics doing just that in a very depressing way for the Lakers. The biggest NBA finals comeback in history – 24 points – was accomplished by the Celtics and Kobe Bryant seemed as though he wanted to forget about it as soon as possible at the press conference afterward. It almost looked like he already has given up.
I was this close to asking him, Kobe, why the hell did you only start driving to the basket in the last two minutes? You saw how it worked out!” Ah well, I didn’t ask him, since all these somewhat stupid questions asked by journalists are annoying even to me: “Please tell us what went through your mind when you went to the basket!” Are you serious? Just another example that even basketball journalists should at least play some basketball a few times in their lives.
Speaking of playing basketball, I did some earlier this afternoon with Henry Abbott, Maurice Brooks, Chris Broussard, Chris Talbott and many more; it was a cool thing organized by Jonathan Abrahams of the LA Times.
And in the end, I do have one Euroleague note: Euroleague media officer Kirsten Haack was present at the NBA finals – Hi Kirsten! 🙂
