Naturally 7 anybody?

A few weeks ago the Euroleague announced that Naturally 7 will be the performing live act at the Final Four. Never heard of them? Me neither, but I should since Euroleague.net tells us that they perform the #1 German hit “Music is the Key.” I was kind of shocked, me being German and all, that I didn’t know the German #1.

Thanks to YouTube, I was able to find the song in question. It’s more like Sarah Connor than Naturally 7. For those who don’t know Sarah Connor – she would be the Paris Hilton of Germany – in terms of singing and starring on TV shows.

During last year’s NBA Finals I saw people such as Justin Timberlake, David Beckham, Will Smith and Alicia Keys singing the national anthem – well, at least the Euroleague got Naturally 7, right?

Of course, the Euroleague is for Europe, and the NBA for the rest of the show world, but don’t you think that fans from Panthinaikos (here is their theme song), Olympiakos (this is what their fans listen to), and of course our techno Russians of CSKA might think Naturally 7 is kind of a joke?

I won’t judge a group or even a person before I haven’t seen them live — which will happen on May 1st — but don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!

    Wait a minute … i thought Sarah Connor was the target of the terminators! When did she get time to record German pop songs and do TV while on the run from the Governator?

    only can confirm tobias … i have lived in germany for 11 years and didn’t know of this song – or band – whatsoever. dont know exactly what that means, but also watched the song and youtube and first thought to be brutally honest: lame. and then found them ripping off phil collins “in the air tonight” as well.
    oh well, euro hoops fans will have to forgive germany’s taste in music i guess

    so I guess a fraction of the attendance fees flow into the payment of those fantastic musicians.

    Again, why couldn’t we just have 4 cheerleader squads (preferably the hottest ones) do their thing instead of any singing? What have we ever done to deserve this?
    I think that if the germans are so afraid of rioting fans, especially from the greek side, they would do well to pull this band from playing in order to not provoke people to throw stuff in the o2 arena. Heck, even my flat-mate suddenly felt the urge to throw something in the general direction of the compuster blasting that youtube and she is about as calm as it gets (has to be to live with me). Imagine how a hungry mob waiting for the derby of the ages will react if they have to wait a little longer to hear some acapella-something.
    (More) dancing girls, on the other hand….won’t get stuff thrown at!

    Right after their performance ,they may re-name the group to Stoned 3 (The ones that survived the permanent throwing of objects by the ultras in the )2 Arena).
