An interesting, if slightly obscure, signing was reported this week by Hapoel Gilboa/Galil Elyon, as the Israeli club penned Gonzaga alumnus and Jannero’s little bro Jeremy to a one-year deal.
In his senior year at Gonzaga, Pargo put together a crazy season of 10.2 points, 4.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game for 2008-09. In this past NBA Vegas Summer League, Pargo averaged 10.0 ppg and 3.0 ppg for the Detroit Pistons’ club.
It’s unknown how much Jannero contributed to Jeremy’s decision-making process, but it would seem that older brother came away with a positive experience gained from his playing in Europe despite a near-disastrous season with Olympiacos in 2008-09 which culminated in his release from the team. The well-traveled Jannero is back in the ‘States, having signed with the Chicago Bulls in June.
Galil/Gilboa finished third in the Ligat HaAl, Israel’s top division, last season.
