It did not take long for the Euroleague to announce the Madrid event to be sold out. 72hrs were enough for finding enough people to pay between 100€ and 500€ for the tickets.
As we reported already earlier, there were only 3000 tickets to be sold over the net. If selling those 3000 in 72hrs is a success or not, I let yourself decided. So now, there are only the tickets reserved for the participating teams remaining (1000 per team) as well as the "well-known" Euroleague Travel packages with a plane and hotel ticket included.
What is interesting that it were especially Greek fans that are very confident this year. As the official press release tells: Fans from 16 different countries bought tickets this week, with a majority coming from Spain and Greece. So it looks like the Madrid Arena will be probably more of a OAKA in May if the Greens will qualify for the Final four which is quite highly possible.
But when I write this, I see already some people reading this post and thinking: Wow, I did not even know that the selling process has already started. I don’t want to blame the Euroleague but the promotional campaign for these tickets was close to non-existent except on the official website. Ok, the tickets are sold, but how many people who would like to go to Madrid will be obliged to buy the expensive Euroleague Travel packages now which go on sale from the 1st of February. Oh, and of course, VIP tickets are still available 😉
