And so we go into Euroleague 2009-10 week one, part two (or part three if you count the Maccabi Tel Aviv-Olimpija game which took place seemingly so long ago), with five games playing out tonight. For those interested in making it more interesting, Euroleague/BallinEurope.com sponsor Sporting Bet has posted numerous odds and lines on which to wager – and even if you’re not the betting sort, these numbers provide some nice discussion fodder.
Sporting Bet’s pointspreads and over/under lines run below.
BC Khimki vs. Real Madrid
Handicap: Khimki plus-3
over/under: 146.5
Lietuvos Rytas vs. Efes Pilsen
Handicap: Lietuvos plus-4
over/under: 153.5
AJ Milano vs. Panathinaikos
Handicap: AJ Milano plus-7
over/under: 148.5
Lottomatica Roma vs. Baskonia
Handicap: Roma plus-2
over/under: 160.5
Partizan vs. Unicaja Málaga
Handicap: Partizan minus-1
over/under: 141.5
Good bets? Well, that Partizan-Unicaja line is strange. Sure, Partizan is hardly highly esteemed going into this season (heck, Sporting Bet has ‘em at 250/1 to take the title) and appear to be starting from ground zero with a bunch of relatively little-tested talents, but near the top of Euroleague Betting dicta must certainly be “Never lay heavy money against Partizan at home.” Seriously, Unicaja’s coming into Pionir on opening day after dropping games to Real Madrid and Manresa in ACB play? I say the 13th man makes the difference and Partizan wins game one going away.
