Spartak Moscow Region wins it second straight title in the Euroleague Women this weekend in an exciting Final Four in Brno (Czech Republic).
After having beat the Russian rivals of Ekaterinbourg in the semis, the WNBA All-Star team from Moscow had to play against the local heroes of Brno. The Czech team has qualified itself in an overtime win against the French team of Bourges in the semis. And it were apparently the French ladies that had deserved to qualify for the Final according to Basketsession. The disapointment was big for Celine Dumerc who gave some trouble to the local translator to transmit her words to the international press.
The Final game then was dominated by the team from Moscow in the first half, and the Gambrinus Brno squad never came back to less than 9 points difference in the second half. So Lauren Jackson (MVP of the Final Four) and her teammates won a second straight Euroleague Women trophy this year. The All-Final Four team has been composed of Sue Bird, Belinda Snell, Tina Thompson, Lauren Jackson and Zuzi Zyrkova.
And for all the other teams, Brno was probably close to what have felt Cathy Melain and Celine Dumerc: "c’est de la merde".
