As we just learned from Euroleague.net, Tau Ceramica announced on Wednesday that center Will McDonald has been “provisionally removed from the team” and that a disciplinary proceeding involving the player has been opened. So what did Will do? In a statement, the club attributed the decision to “several events that took place” after Tau lost a Spanish League home game over the weekend to AXA F.C. Barcelona. The statement did not make clear how long McDonald might be separated from the team and whether his participation in the Final Four might be affected.
This not the first time though that Will McDonald is in the news. A few months ago he was involved in a car crash.
I am sure that Tau will not bench McDonald at the final four since they would only punish themselves. I am sure they will take any help they can get to make a miracle happen against CSKA.
But of course we always just hear the official sides – anything else is pure speculation. Well is it really?
You might remember Gabe Muoneke, who played for Tau – three months. Thanks to hoopshype.com, which is ran by Spanish guys as it was discovered recently, Gabe wrote a “Goodbye” article on his hoopshype.com blog. As you can imagine he wasn’t that happy to leave again and started to complain about his little appartment in Spain which was ” a tenth the size of my house”.
He also wasn’t the the loved one in Tau as we can read in his article further on: My teammates regularly gave me strange looks when I’d see something like Igor Rakocevic walk a guy down with two slow steps, one hard jab, come off a screen full speed, catch the pass, sense the defender cheating, rip the ball through to the left, drive by him, and rather than lay it up, stop after two dribbles for an eight-feet tear drop over the big guy who came to help… And miss. “Oh! Helluva move Rako!”
After all these things about Gabe you might think: “Oh please, stop it, what an idiot!”. Well, I don’t. Why? Gabe spoke up and tells us at least that something is wrong with the Tau Ceramica staff – either the coaches and or the management. Gabe, we appreciate it.
