If you follow the NBA closely you might have seen that the Houston Rockets signed Loren Woods to a 10 day contract on March 21st. Yes, Loren Woods, the 2,18 meter guy from Efes Pilsen who got kicked out of the club for not traveling to Belgrade.
For Efes, Loren played 21 minutes, scored 8 points per game and grabbed 6.5 rebounds in 16 games. Loren’s highlight: MVP of week 11.
Well now, Loren probably has a new highlight in his career: He actually made it to an NBA team – again (Loren played for Toronto, Miami and Minnesota before). He made it through the 10 day contract period and actually plays for the Houston Rockets, who had this winning run of 22 games. Unfortunately, Loren Woods wasn’t a member of the team at that time.
So what is Loren doing on that great Houston Rockets team, that also former Euroleague star Louis Scola is playing at? Well, not much so far. Loren averages 2.4 minutes in 7 games.
But why did Loren Woods make it to that team? Of course he is a tall center player, but not the most muscular one, right? Well, I am sure that Mr. “Not in my house” Dikembe Mutombo‘s age and Yao Ming‘s injury might be a reason.
Still good luck to Loren and the Rockets in their Playoff matches against the Utah Jazz – unless you are Andre Kirilenko fan of course.
