No word on Allen Iverson’s return from injury and to Turkey to resume playing for Beşiktaş Cola Turka, but negative press is out on Mr. Answer this week.
The Denver Post first reported – in a story later picked up by several sources – that Iverson had stopped paying off a $3 million-mortgage on a Colorado home; the house will be foreclosed on in April. A BET.com blogger added that such a tab is something that “someone without a job probably can’t afford.”
(So is A.I. no longer with Beşiktaş after all…?)
Aforementioned blogger went on to snarkily remark that “Can someone get him a reality show already? Or some new legs? I’d say a rap contract, but I remember that one single he had. Yeah, that won’t work, so let’s shoot for something else. Anything really … I hate to see this dude go out like this.”
Back to reality, in any case. Iverson’s on-again, off-again Twitter feed has said much on either subject recently. His last tweet as of this writing came on Saturday:
Not exactly illuminating, eh?
And there ain’t a damn thing on his official website, either. BiE just sent the man his own query; we’ll see if a Twitter miracle happens.
As of February 19, A.I. tweeted that he’d “Just completed my second week of physical therapy. Hoping to return to finish up in Beşiktaş in a few more weeks.” That would translate out to … right about now…
Meanwhile, Iverson’s still (as far as we know)-current team has been rolling as of late, currently in fifth place on the TBL table after enjoying a 7-0 run to chase consecutive single-basket losses to Galatasaray Café Crown and Efes Pilsen in January.
