You may remember the story about the German team Cologne 99ers when during one crazy day, the team went from being bankrupt to being saved within several hours. Now, with a new management and less money, the team is still playing in the German Bundesliga but their manager Jens Brämer found a new way to finance the next player acquisitions. Or at least, it could be like that.
I was a bit surprised when I was watching the German version of “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” last Monday and when the last candidate that qualified was a certain Jens from Cologne. In fact, it was the current manager of the Bundesliga team who managed to move to the hot seat after putting four Disney movies in the right order of premiering. The time was up quickly and Brämer had only won 100 Euro that far and he will be on air again this Friday. However, the show was already produced this Tuesday but Brämer refuses to tell the media how much money he won.
David Hein took up this story too and asked the manager about the usage of the prize money and if the team will get further additions through his eventual million Euro.
Well, with the amount that I won, it really isn’t worth talking about that. But it would have been nice.
This sounds not too optimistic about the million or is Mr Brämer just bluffing? Cologne signed already Michael H. Jordan a few das ago, but we have to wait until Friday to know if they can also afford a real NBA top star to help the team move up in the standings…
