While we in Europe have certainly not forgotten Turkish wunderkind Enes Kanter, he may have left the consciousness of many American hoops fans after having to sit out an entire 2010-11 season for which he was supposed to have played at the University of Kentucky.
Neverthless, he’s still held in high esteem by those in the know and is forecast as a high draft pick: DraftExpress lists Kanter at no. 8 in its “Top 100 Prospects” list – just ahead of Donatas Motiejunas (!) – while ubiquitous mock drafters have him going as high as no. 4, tentatively (ping pong balls willing) putting him in D.C. with the Washington Wizards.
During the 2009-10 season, Kanter played American high school ball, starting with Findlay College Prep in Henderson, Nevada, but finishing his senior year with Stone Ridge Prep in Simi Valley, California, due to those pesky eligibility questions vis-à-vis his brief professional career in the Fenerbahce Ülker system.
Today, thanks to a tip from The Hoop Doctors, BallinEurope presents a rare treat: Video footage of Kanter’s play for Stoneridge Prep. This could well be the same YouTube that NBA scouts may have to rely on when considering adding this highly-skilled big man to their rosters come draft day. Watch a true man-among-boys after the break … and imagine your team adding this guy.
