We have heard it a lot before: European scores like 55:57 is nothing unusal. But last night Panathinaikos Athens set a record in scored points on a road game: 123 points against Euroleague newcomer Chorale Roanne.
Led by Andrija Zizic, who scored 28 points in just 22 minutes, everybody on the Panathinaikos team got to score besides Alvertis who didn’t make any of his 5 taken shots in 14 minutes. It is also interesting that Panathinaikos made 74% of their 2-pointers, 60% of their 3-pointers and almost 90% of their free throws.
What did Chorale do wrong? If you haven’t seen the game you might want to think they they probably shot a horrible percentage: WRONG – They made 62% of their 2-pointers but only 27% of their 3-pointers.
Chorale’s American Marc Salyers already saw it coming: “It is like they have 14 Michael Jordans’ on their team!”.
Another interesting number is the ranking for each player. Panathinaikos managed to get a total of 159 while Chorale Roanne got 64.
