Okay, how about closing out the workweek with a few videos? BiE knew you wouldn’t mind! So feast your eyes on a half-dozen clip starring the likes of Khalid El-Amin Danilo Gallinari, Jan Vesely, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, Jeremy Pargo and the International Choir of Vilnius!
BallinEurope was pleased as punch to see Gallinari score ESPN “Highlight of the Night” honors – almost as pleased to see the Miami Heat writhing on the other end of the Italian’s dagger. (O yes, BiE’s a Heat-hater in 2010-11.) And here’s an excellent shot from the stands.
Here’s to hoping that Bill “The Sports Guy” Simmons gets a chance to check out this week’s Euroleague Top 10 plays; this one’s sure to score well on the Unintentional Comedy Textwriting Scale. All together now: “Mantas Kalnietis of Žalgiris Kaunas drives to the hole and rocks the house with a monster dunk. Wow.” And Vesely’s one-handed jam at no. 5? Unbulumbable!
Wait a minute … Pargo’s latest YouTube-able masterpiece was only number three? Let’s see that again!
Always worth a look, of course, are the top plays from the ACB.
Though this one has nothing to do with European hoops whatsoever, the all-time most insane dunk definitely speaks without words. And, as the newscasters point out, it counts.
Finally, here’s “In the Name of the Game,” the Eurobasket 2011 anthem as performed by Stano and the International Choir of Vilnius. That’s right, a choir; there’s also a mellow techno feel and a French (!) rap. Okay, so it’s no “Waving Flag,” but hey, it’ll do as a crowd-rouser. Rise and fall, y’all!
