Larry Bird, one of the greatest basketball players of all time and current president of the basketball operations of the Indiana Pacers recently gave an interview on the 1070 The Fan show with Eddie White and Bob Kravitz. And one of the subjects was the NBA Draft.
Besides the usual talk about the Draft Lottery and the discussion about Beyoncé, Larry was also asked about possible future draft picks. IndyCornrows transcribed the following funny discussion:
Kravitz: The other guy you are referring to is Nicolas Batum from (with emphasis) Le Mans Sarthe Basket.
Larry: Yep.
Kravitz: I don’t know where in God’s name that is. Is that France?
Larry: Uhh, I think Spain, isn’t it?
Kravitz: Spain? I don’t know. I don’t have a clue. (Everyone laughing)
Eddie: Thank God Larry does and his scouts do. Don’t listen to him (Kravitz).
Larry: Well, I’m not saying I’m 100% but I watch a lot of tape of him, but I’m like, I don’t know what they’re sayin’ on there.
Well Larry, for somebody who comes from French Lick and not know where Le Mans is located that may be acceptable. But assuming interest in a player from Le Mans and still not knowing in which country the city is located is a bit funny. And that you don’t understand what they are saying on the tapes is not really an excuse. I mean anyone in the world would understand what they are saying here:
So my recommendation for Larry: watch this clip, so at least you know where Nicolas Batum is coming from. In Larry’s defense, I must admit that without him, I wouldn’t know where French Lick is located, either…
