Many people, including Cleveland Cavaliers fans and pundits, are suggesting that the Cavaliers need to make changes to their starting line up immediately in order to get out of the rough patch that they currently find themselves in. It’s not been a great time of late for Cleveland who have now lost five of their last six games, and none out of their last twelve too. They look to be in free fall right now and it’s hard to believe this is a side who has made NBA Finals appearances in each of the last three years.
The Cavaliers are in free fall right now, which has been made even worse with what many are describing as an embarrassing loss at the weekend. They took on Oklahoma Thunder on Saturday night but lost the game 148-124 and this has prompted even more questions as to why the team are currently stuck in this rut. But more importantly, it has generated questions like what can, and should be done, to get them back on track. This concern is especially apparent on sports sites like Betting.com, which offers a comprehensive listing of online betting sites and all the latest sporting news.
You would look at the Cavaliers defensively and see that they are well stocked when it comes to talent and strength in depth too. Tyronn Lue can call upon the likes of Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Jeff Green, Kyle Korver and Tristan Thompson from the bench in order to possibly rebuild their faltering defence, which has been by far and away the worst in the NBA over the last few weeks. Right now Cleveland simply can’t stop opponents scoring against them, so the only solution may be to make changes to the line-up with a fresh approach.
Tyronn Lue has already spoken ahead of the Cavaliers’ next game which sees them taking on the San Antonio Spurs. He’s suggested that there won’t be any line-up changes barring a last minute change of mind as he didn’t feel it was the best thing for them to do right now. So Cleveland will once again start the game with Isiah Thomas as point guard, JR Smith as shooting guard, LeBron James as small forward, Jae Crowder as power forward and Kevin Love as the center. Lue however did concede there have been issues with the defensive side of things recently, and suggested that if the team worked better collectively, the errors plaguing them would become less.
As things stand Lue is set to get his side out practicing a lot more, especially with the return to fitness of key players. Tristan Thompson, Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert are back, but need to spend more time practicing according to Lue. If they can start to rebuild chemistry and understandings become stronger, it is highly likely that the Cavaliers will be able to turn things around.
The issue may be the fact that coach Lue is wanting to continue with his own approach and selections no matter what as things stand. Some other coaches will be tempted to change personnel or to approach matters differently, but Lue insists that things will come good by continuing to press ahead with his methods. Only time will tell if he has made the right call or whether changes are needed to halt their slide.
