Cleaves to Partizan now a done deal?
Can we file this one under “strange but true” yet? Italian-language website SoloBasket.it is reporting that Partizan Belgrade has indeed signed Mateen Cleaves in the wake of the Milt Palacio departure. Solo Basket reports that “Partizan will be back in Europe after the U.S. tour, and bringing back its new American player. The black-and-white of […]
Palacio out and – no way, really? – Mateen Cleaves considered for Partizan spot
Milt Palacio shouldn’t have slacked off. Due to his refusal not to play with Partizan Belgrade on its American tour, Palacio has been eliminated from consideration for the black-and-white’s 2009-10 roster. Reads the official statement from Partizan president Predrag Danilović:
When I’m sixty-four: Happy birthday, KK Partizan!
How many oldsters do you know that choose to celebrate a 64th birthday by going four quarters? Of course, Кошаркашки клуб Партизан, a.k.a. KK Partizan, isn’t your typical sexagenarian, either. Partizan’s basketball club was founded on October 4, 1945 and in its first season took the Yugoslavia title. As the excellent – albeit in Serbian […]
Trip to America moves Jan Vesely closer to NBA
When Partizan Belgrade takes on the Midwest All-Stars this weekend, more than the Serbian community and fans curious about European ball will be attending. In fact, scouts from at least five NBA teams – the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks – will be in attendance, primarily to get a […]
Galil/Gilboa gets ex-Zag Jeremy Pargo
An interesting, if slightly obscure, signing was reported this week by Hapoel Gilboa/Galil Elyon, as the Israeli club penned Gonzaga alumnus and Jannero’s little bro Jeremy to a one-year deal. In his senior year at Gonzaga, Pargo put together a crazy season of 10.2 points, 4.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game for 2008-09. In […]
Race for Kleiza down to Denver and Olympiacos?
Still in free-agent limbo is Team Lithuania’s Linas Kleiza, with an apparent (and puzzling) lack of NBA interest in the former Denver Nugget resulting in few reported offers from the United States. In fact, currently winning in the rumored offer department for Kleiza are none other than good old George, Panayiotis, and Piraeus Olympiacos. While […]
Friday's Euroleague transactions feature Walter Hermann, others
The big Euroleague-related news on Friday – and probably the biggest overall even in a busy week – was of course the wooing of Walter Hermann away from the Detroit Pistons and onto Tau Ceramica; Hermann thus returns to Euroleague, where he last saw action with the King’s Cup-winning Unicaja squad in 2005-06. Also coming […]
The NBA-Euro Exodus continues
The transfer season is in full speed in Europe, with rumors fusing all around the different newspapers and websites. And while the NBA teams are still thinking of drafting Europeans in the second round, former picks are thinking about moving back to the Euroleague.
