Euroleague team preview: EWE Baskets Oldenburg
For the past two off-seasons, management at EWE Baskets Oldenburg has concentrated on continuity within the team, keeping down the number of players leaving and entering the team. And coach Predrag Krunic hopes that continuity can help his team overcome the lack of Euroleague experience to challenge in Europe’s best league. A handful of players […]
Betting on basketball: In Bundesliga, it's Alba Berlin and … who?
Anyone else believe Alba Berlin *won’t* take the Bundesliga handily? You’ll find few dissenters on last year’s Euroleague sensation to win Germany’s top league going away, particularly at the sportsbook. Alba is certainly the logical choice – “But where’s the sport in that?” ask the gamblers and rabid fans of Bundesliga’s 17 other teams – […]

Wednesday, Thursday Euroleague transactions: English to Tau, three back with Oldenburg, more

Groupings announced, Euroleague 2009-10 tips off (sorta)
The Euroleague 2009-10 season has begun! This morning, the Euroleague announced the groupings for the ten-game competition this autumn. Naturally, the pools are totally enticing and some great fodder for watercooler discussions for months. (Heck, they’ll have to be.) The groups look like this:
Euroleague, Eurocup, EuroChallenge participants announced
To torment and tease those of us – and by “those of us” here, i mean “every Euroball fan” – who can’t wait for the Euroleague, Eurocup, and FIBA EuroChallenge championship draws set for Wednesday at 1pm CET, FIBA Europe and Euroleague yesterday released the names of the participating clubs in the three competitions.
A few more notes on 2009/10 Euroleague teams
With the French playoffs finished and the German finals coming to an end, the last Euroleague teams will be known in the next few days. However, with still no official decision on the competition system for the next campaign, all this still cannot be considered definitive.
